Accurate to
10 cm
In a food forest, crops grow close together and in layers. You want every plant on the map exactly where it grows, not a few metres away. That is why we are building our own GPS: the My Food Forest GPS.
- Your phone: works straight away, but is usually 3 to 5 metres off, sometimes more under a canopy. The GPS info button shows how accurate your location is at that moment.
- My Food Forest GPS: puts every crop on the map to within 10 cm, more than thirty times as precise as your phone.
- Paired in a few taps: connect the GPS to the app over Bluetooth and register your crops the way you are used to.
- To buy or to rent: from the launch on 24 November 2026. Pairing is available from the Grow plan.
Accuracy measured under open sky with RTK correction. In our own measurements with the prototype we reached 9 cm.

Navigate your food forest
The food forest map shows where every crop is. Zoom in on your plot, tap a marker and you immediately know which species it is and whether there is anything to harvest.
- All crops on one map, grouped by species.
- Colour coding shows what is ripe, what has been harvested and what is still to come.
- Landmarks such as the entrance, the restaurant or the coffee corner are on it too.

More than 1,000 edible plants
Look up a species in our plant database of more than 1,000 edible plants: species and cultivars. Every crop has its own page with its botanical name and cultivar, crop type, height, edible parts, flowering time and harvest period per plant part.
- Information, maintenance and recipes neatly separated into tabs.
- Manager information such as planting date, supplier and your own notes.
- A species not in the database? Request it or record it as your own crop.

Plan and record your harvest
The harvest calendar shows what is ripe per month and week number. Harvested something? Record it in a few clicks, including weight, time, location and notes.
- Basic recording for speed, detailed recording for those who want to keep track of more.
- Harvest history per crop, so you can compare the years.
- A notification when crops are ready to be harvested.

Recipes and events
Have a delicious recipe for your harvest? Link it to the crop so everyone can find it. Organising a guided tour or a workshop? Add it to your food forest's calendar.
- Recipes with ingredients, preparation and a link to the crop.
- Events with date, time, location and description.
- Public pages that introduce your food forest to visitors.
Frequently asked questions about the app
When can I use the app?
The app launches on 24 November 2026. From then on you can register crops, plan harvests and manage your food forest.
Does the app work without reception in the food forest?
We take that into account in the design. Many food forests are outside built-up areas, so the app has to keep working when the network drops out for a while.
Do I need to be good with technology?
No. The app is designed for people with little experience of technology. You are guided step by step, with as few choices as possible per screen.
How accurately are my crops placed on the map?
With your phone's GPS usually to within 3 to 5 metres, sometimes more under a canopy. The GPS info button shows how accurate your location is at that moment. With the My Food Forest GPS you record crops to within 10 cm. And you can always place a crop on the map by hand.
What if a crop is not in the database?
You can request a missing crop. We review the request and add it to the central database. If it is a unique variety, you record it as your own crop.
